Attorneys
Michael D. Smoker, CPA, J.D.
Professional and Business History:
Mike has over 30 years experience as an attorney in the areas of tax, estate planning, real estate and business transactions. Additionally, Mike has 30 + years experience in public accounting providing business and personal tax services, financial accounting services, estate planning services, business advisory and development services. Mike also has experience in various business start-ups, mergers and acquisitions of going concerns and related entrepreneurial activities.
Professional and Business History:
Nicholas T. Gard is a partner with Smoker Gard Associates, LLP who concentrates his practice in the areas of business and real estate transactions, 1031 exchange transactions, wills, trusts and estate administration, business formation and organization, taxation and other business and family related issues. Nick’s more than 30 years of experience has provided him with the experience and insight to deal with business and family legal issues from starting-out and through all stages of growth and transition. In addition to Nick’s law and professional affiliations, Nick also maintains financial service licenses Series 6 and Series 63, Life Insurance, and Title Insurance. Nick teaches Tax and Business Law courses as an Adjunct Professor for Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, Bloomsburg Campus.
Professional and Business History:
Nicole M. Gard is a partner with Smoker Gard Associates LLP, who works primarily in the areas of Real Estate Law, Business Law, Estate Planning Law, and §1031 Like Kind Exchange transactions. Additionally, Nicole manages the firm’s in-house title company for real estate settlements and refinances.
Nicole is the daughter of Attorney Nicholas Gard and spent much of her early life shadowing her father and learning the ropes of the legal system. Upon completing law school in New York, Nicole returned to Lancaster County to join her father’s practice. Nicole maintains a professional relationship with Garden Spot High School’s Career Pathways program where Nicole is a mentor to student interns who aspire to pursue a career in the legal field.
In her spare time, Nicole can be found at the barn spending time with her horses where she is an avid equestrian showing on the show jumping circuit.
Linda Kling, Of Counsel
Professional and Business History:
Attorney Linda Kling has helped clients with thousands of public sales and real estate settlements. Her practice has included the formation of business entities and charitable organizations. She has served the court as a special master for divorces and has been appointed by the court to represent the best interests of children in contested adoptions. She also has extensive experience in the creation of wills, trusts, and the settlement of estates.
Linda is a former director on several local boards including the YWCA, Ressler Mill Foundation, Historic Preservation Trust and Welsh Mountain Medical, Dental Center and the Ephrata Community Hospital. Linda lives on a beautiful farm in Churchtown.
Paralegal Team
Professional and Business History: Heather Reybok has resided in Lancaster County since the age of 8. She graduated from Millersville University with a B.A. in Political Science and has an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from Harrisburg Area Community College. Heather joined our law firm after graduation from Millersville University. She supports our Elder Law divisions and Estate Planning and Administration divisions as well as assisting in Adoption in our New Holland Office. Heather works closely with our clients and is compassionate to each matter. Heather and her husband live in Lancaster, and she enjoys reading, going to the gym and taking trips to the beach.
Stephanie Waller Eshleman
Professional and Business History:
Stephanie joined Smoker Gard Associates in February 2011. She is a graduate from Pierce College with a Bachelors Degree in Paralegal Studies and also received an Associates Degree in Legal Studies from Harrisburg Area Community College. She supports our offices in the area of business law and assists in other areas as needed. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband, son and her dog and cat. She enjoys traveling especially her annual family trips Jamaica.
Professional and Business History:
A Philadelphia native, Jessica joined Smoker Gard Associates LLP in February 2017. Jessica supports our office in the area of real estate law and title insurance. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys reading, horror movies, spending time with her family, and participating in community theatre, both backstage and on-stage.
Adam Maser
Professional and Business History:
Adam joined Smoker Gard Associates in August 2022. Adam graduated from Arcadia University with a B.A. in Politics, Government, and Law. During his time at Arcadia, Adam was a player on the University’s baseball team. Adam supports our office in the areas of Real Estate, Estate Planning, and Business Law. In his free time, Adam enjoys spending time with family and friends watching baseball and playing golf.
Legal Assistants
Shelley McGinley
Professional and Business History:
Shelley joined Smoker Gard in August 2019 as the administrative assistant in our Mount Carmel office. She assists with all types of clients matters and is committed to efficient and attentive client care. Shelley graduated from Luzerne County Community College with a Medical Office Assistant Certificate. Shelley enjoys getting to know the clients and provides a smiling face for anyone who visits our Mount Carmel office. In her spare time, Shelley enjoys cooking and baking for family, going to football and baseball games, volunteering in the community and taking trips to the shore.
Brittny Trostle
Professional and Business History:
Brittny joined Smoker Gard in October 2023. Brittny is the smiling and friendly face that greets you in our New Holland Office. Brittny loves being able to help clients and assist her coworkers on daily tasks. Brittny has a certification in Heath Office Administration from Martinsburg College. In her free time, Brittny enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and trying new foods with friends.
Anna Frey
Professional and Business History:
Anna joined Smoker Gard Associates LLP in February 2024 as a legal assistant. She helps to support the office in the areas of estate planning and real estate. Anna graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 2015 and continued her education at Lycoming College where she received her B.A. in History and minor in International Public Policy. In her free time, Anna enjoys traveling, reading, playing video games, and spending time with her three cats: Ramsay, Thorfinn and Ranni.
